Reading Female Body Language - A Guide to Female Flirting and Women's Body Language

Body Language can be everything. You see her from across the room. She gives you a head tilt and smile. This is one of the classic female body Language clues. The head tilt offers submissiveness (like a wolf baring its throat to the Alpha) and the smile is an alluring and reassuring invitation. She wants you to make an approach and is willing to accept your lead. To learn more clues about female flirting, read on.

Ways to read female body Language: the hair

The most obvious technique is a woman's hair. A woman's hair often defines her as a woman; it is a fairly common cultural thing. Many women will also use their hair in flirting and also unconsciously use it in their body Language to indicate desire for attention and flirting. The first way is the head toss, which readjusts her hair. Since hair length and beauty is often seen as a primary trait of womanhood and beauty, by doing this she is saying, "look at me, aren't I beautiful" Another clue is playing with her hair. If she is putting it behind her ears, she is baring her throat (again, submissive). If she is twirling her hair, it is a sign of nervousness and could mean she is scared of saying something wrong and losing your interest.

Girls body language clues

Another big clue is what she is doing with her hands. Women often externalize what they are wanting inside to objects they play with their hands, when they are nervous. If she is rubbing her finger or an object (say a pen or a swizzle stick) around her lips, this shows that she desires to be kissed. If she is rubbing her hands or fingers up and down an object slowly (like a glass) this indicates that she wants to be similarly rubbed or stroked.

The Different Types of Figurative Language

Used right, they can give your writing a fresh angle, apart from helping you compare, emphasize or clarify specific thoughts. Make sure you know each type so that you may employ them in your own work.

Metaphor. Metaphors is a figure of speech expressed by comparing two things, saying that one is the other. It is a comparison of two things that do not use "like" or "as." It's highly effective because of the very indirect manner by which it communicates its message, provided the rest of your writing is capably put together (with the help of a complete writing software).

Simile. Like metaphors, they allow you to compare unlike things. However, they use a more traditional method, employing comparisons that use connectors, such as "like" and "as."

Synecdoche. This type of figurative Language uses a part of something to refer to the whole, specify a class of thing used to refer a larger or more general class. Examples include referring to a businessman as a "suit," to money as "paper" and your car as "wheels."

Hyperbole. Frequently employed in humorous writing, this entails exaggerating or overstating a fact for effect or used to evoked strong feelings or impressions. For an example, check out all the "Yo' mamma" jokes.

Pun. Puns are play on words and is the device frequently used for knock-knock jokes.

Personification. In this form of figurative Language, an abstract object or concept is represented as a person, such as when a singer refers to his "car" as a "she."

Language in the Philippines

The Philippines is a multi-lingual country. Its rich history and highly segregated demography have allowed for the development of several dialects.

The national Language of the Philippines is Filipino or Tagalog. The Language was originally called "Pilipino" but was changed in 1989 to its current name by virtue of an act in Philippine Congress. It is the most popular of the almost 170 native Languages spoken within the country. It is the language mostly spoken by the inhabitants of Luzon.

Three centuries ago, the official language of the country was Spanish. This was mainly due to the rule of Spanish colonizers. By the 1900's, during the American occupation, the national language became English. This was the language used in education and media. However, Spanish was still recognized as a language of the country and was even reaffirmed in the 1935 Philippine Constitution.

The same constitution paved the way for the development of the Philippines' own language. It was a Philippine president named Manuel Quezon, who led the initiative to select a national language for the country. In the year 1937, Tagalog was officially declared as the country's national language.

To further classify Philippine languages, academicians have subdivided these into three major groupings. The first one is the Northern Philippine languages that are spoken mainly in Northern Luzon. The next is the Meso Philippine language that includes languages spoken by people in Central Luzon. Languages under this grouping are among the most widespread. Meanwhile, those spoken in the southern region of the country belong to the Southern Philippine language grouping. Many of these languages show the influence of Sanskrit, Arabic and Indonesian words.

Today, the Philippine constitution recognizes two official languages: Filipino and English, with the former declared the national language. However, there are still other sub-languages that can be rightfully called dialects. These include Cebuano, Hiligaynon, Kapampangan and Bikol. All these languages belong to the Malayo-Polynesian branch of the Austronesian language family.

Is Japanese Language Difficult to Learn?

The answer is "yes" and "no". Yes, because, first of all, the Japanese Language has a few sounds with five standard vowels and simple pronunciation scheme; syllables are formed by a single vowel or a consonant-vowel combination. For the grammar, there are few exceptions to its rules, and restrictions on sentence structure are not severe.

The Japanese Language is considered difficult by many due to the mixture of different types of characters, namely, kanji characters, hiragana characters, katakana characters and Roman letters; the most difficult one is kanji. There are about 3,000 commonly used kanji characters including the 1,945 "daily use characters", and 46 hiragana and katakana characters each.

One aspect of the Language that makes it difficult for foreigners to grasp quickly is the presence of many words which are pronounced the same but have different meanings. For example; hana can be "flower" or "nose", ame for "rain" or "candy". Knowing kanji helps in this aspect of learning as each of these words can be easily recognized by kanji.

Cultural Considerations

Another feature which makes the learning of Japanese difficult yet interesting is the fact that the way Japanese is spoken differs depending on whether the speaker is a man or a woman, and adult or a child. Can you imagine, for instance, how strange a male foreign speaker, especially a big macho-looking man, sounds, if he speaks Japanese which he has picked up informally from Japanese lady's speaking?

What is even more troublesome is that the speaker must choose his words considering the relationship between himself and the person he is speaking to or speaking about. The barriers between the speaker and the listener/person in the topic are mostly created by familiarity between two people, age and position in society. The more unfamiliar you are to the listener, and the younger you are, and the lower your social status is, the more your speech becomes formal. The reverse is the informal speech. One example is that there are numerous words meaning "I" and each speaker refers to himself using the one what is most appropriate for his situation. Besides, these situational differences can be accentuated by the body language; custom of bowing (45 degree in general), space between two speakers, eye contact, etc., which projects the cultural aspect of the Japanese society.

In general, the Japanese are notorious for being a poor speaker of foreign language. Therefore, they appreciate the foreigners' learning Japanese. Their typical response to foreigners' speaking even a little Japanese is "Joozu desu ne!"; "Your Japanese is good!" Thus, knowing a little Japanese can go a long way, not only in communication, but captivating the heart of Japanese.

Ganbatte! (Hang in there!)
